RECYCLE
Book Blurb (from author site): As a curious child, Clayton didn’t resist the bite—he asked for it. But surviving as a lone child werewolf was more than he could manage—until Jeremy came along and taught him how to straddle the human-werewolf worlds, gave him a home…and introduced him to the Pack. So begins this volume, featuring three of the most intriguing members of the American Pack—a hierarchical founding family where bloodlines mean everything, and each day presents a new, thrilling, and often deadly challenge. For as Clayton grows from a wild child to a clever teen who tests his beloved mentor at every turn, he must learn not only to control his animal instincts, but to navigate Pack politics—including showing his brutal arch nemesis, Malcolm, who the real Alpha is...
My Review and Thoughts: All that said…I did not like the way they SKIM over how he met Elena. Since this was Clay and Jeremy’s book, so to speak, I did not expect detail, but since a mate for him had to be perfect, how did he feel when he saw her? Did she even notice him? What was the first thing he said to her? I would have been happy with all that up until maybe the first time they spoke. Armstrong spent a little time saying how he felt about women and how they were beneath him, of course not in so many words but my impression. How his mate had to be perfect and smart and strong…and then she says he meets that mate, almost in so many words. Not verbatim, but almost as many words. VERY short and brief. That was my ONLY disappointment in this book
I started this series in the very beginning. I fell in love with the crew in the first two books. I lost interest in the series with the third and even more with the 4th, which was the last book I have read so far, Industrial Magic. I have Haunted, Broken and No Humans Involved on my shelf to be read, but I missed the presence of Clay, Elena and even Jeremy. I picked this one up and read it cause it involved Clay and I missed him. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great series and I like that each book can stand on its own, but as with any series, you have those characters that speak to you and that you fall in love with…like part of a family. LOL
This book, as I said, is about Jeremy and Clay. Jeremy’s story about whom and what he is and how he has become the man we meet in Bitten, is worth reading this book in itself. The mysterious, quiet, strong man, feared and respected by many. How he knows and does some of the things he knows and does. Without giving anything away too much, he is not just wolf, pact. It is not something I would have seen or guest, one of the things I respect about Armstrong. You don’t see the tib bits about her world. You can’t guess them and you don’t see them coming. Her witches are special and different just as her wolves are and her vampires. I knew Clay was not born a wolf, but how and who turned him I did not know. What he had to go through with this new ability as a child pretty much on his own was heart wrenching and warming. How he was found and the nurturing Jeremy had to go through to earn Clay’s trust. The bond they build and share. They mold each other into who they are. Their dependency to make each other soft, hard, protective, dominant and submissive in a balanced way. You really see why and how Clay’s loyalty is built with Jeremy. You also get a little aspect on some of the other players and pact members. All in all, it was a great read, good insight and an intriguing story.
Happy Reading…
