RECYCLE

Actual Book Blurb: MacKayla Lane’s ordinary life underwent a complete makeover when she landed on Ireland’s shores and was plunged into a world of deadly sorcery and ancient secrets. In her fight to stay alive, Mac must find the Sinsar Dubh—a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over both the worlds of the Fae and of Man. Pursued by Fae assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she can not trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and irresistible men: V’lane, the insatiable Fae who can turn sensual arousal into an obsession for any woman and the ever-inscrutable Jericho Barrons, a man as alluring as he is mysterious. For centuries, the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down and Mac is the only thing that stands between them.

My Review and Thoughts: First, I want to say that Karen Marie Moning is a major tease. LOL In the book blurb above, the talk about Mac being torn between two irresistible men is true but she gives you NOTHING. A little kiss, that was actually pretty hot, and then they are torn apart by the big bad uglies. Grrrr…

I do like Mac’s development though. She is growing into her roll well and learns pretty fast. The girl we started with that was pretty in pink is no longer consumed with her nail polish and matching sandals. Strapping on her big girl panties, she starts to realize she has to do what needs to be done to save all and not just avenge her sister…though that is still playing a major roll.

Though it is not much, we do get a LITTLE insight into the enigmatic Jericho Barrons. We also see a softer, non-sexual side of the tasty V’lane. Mac comes face to face and has to reply on one of these guys coming to save her from a fate worse then death. Yes that was a little corny but appropriate. The little, old, judgmental lady Mac ran into more then once also reveals a little more about who she is.

There are a few dull and slow parts in the book, but the action and story/character building I think makes up for it. We learn a lot about Mac and who she is in addition to her potential. She grows with each turning page. You grow more and more attached to some and get questions answered to things left unresolved from the first book (this is the 2nd). She “learns” to “deal” better with some OOP’s though they do take their toll on her. She makes new friends who help her in her quest…we even get a peek from characters from her Highlander series (for those who have read it). You can tell this is still in the beginning stages of building the story, but it sucks you right in. If that is not enough, go read the 1st three chapters to the next one, Faefever, at KMM site. It got me to actually BUY the book and not swap it. LOL

Happy Reading…
